Marion Schmid is Professor of French Literature and Film at The University of Edinburgh. Between 2015 and 2017 she was principal investigator of an AHRC- funded International Research Network titled ‘Film and the Other Arts: Intermediality, Medium Specificity, Creativity’. The project explored new directions for the study of cinematic intermediality, focusing on the ways in which the moving image is shaped and revitalised by artistic cross-fertilisation. She is a member of the international Proust research group at the Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes/ Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, and a founding member of the Franco- Scottish Research Network in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Her recent articles include ‘Self-portrait as Visual Artist: Chantal Akerman’s Ma mère rit’ (2016) and ‘Proust’s Choreographies of Writing: A la recherche du temps perdu and the Modern Dance Revolution’ (2015).
